Edwin Hubble
He is the first to determine that there are other galaxies in the universe beyond the milky way and observed that the universe is expanding. He also confirmed the Big Bang theory and he contributed alot as a scientist on the
homefront. we should care about Edwin Hubble because he added more knowledge to us about our galaxy and more. I chose Edwin Hubble because my teacher made me research him, i didn't think anything was cool or interesting about Edwin Hubble. But now i see that he's contributed to science and our knowledge today. He is interesting to me because he has an above average knowledge. He also knows how to calculate enormous numbers and find out how far stars are away from earth.
The Early Years ----
Edwin Hubble plays a really big role in science. Edwin Powell Hubble was born November 20,1889 and he died september 28,1953. Hubble was born in

Marshfield, Missouri and he died in the state of San Marino, California. Hubble is the third of several children. He graduated high school at the age of 16 and recieved a scholarship to the University Of Chicago, where he studied mathematics, physics, chemistry, and astronomy. By Hubbles senior year in college he became an laboratory assistant for a physicist named Robert A. Millikan. Being a brainiac in science wasn't Mr. Hubbles only talent, he also had the chance to become a professional boxer and fight in the heavy-weight class against such people like Jack Johnson.
Major Contributions
Edwin Hubble declined this offer. he became the father of observation of Cosmology. At first Edwin Hubble studied law at Oxford University, and set a practice in Louisville Kentucky in 1913. He changed his course in 1917 because his real interest was Astronomy. He received a doctorate in Astronomy from University of Chicago. He studied skies and created a classification system for galaxies and developed the Hubble's law in 1929. Hubble convinced the world that the universe was dynamic and expanding. He calculated that the Cepheid was further away than anyone had thought and that the nebulae was not a gaseous cloud in our galaxy and discovered that theirs other gaxies besides the Milky Way. By observing redshifts in the light wavelengths emitted by the galaxies, he saw that galaxies were moving away from each other at a rate constant to the distance between them. The further away they were, the faster they receeded. Which led to the calculations to the point where the expansion began and confotmation of the Big Bang Theory, which was calculated to had happened about two billion years ago. Some believe it to had happened about twenty billion years ago.
Legacies
Edwin Hubbles contribution was for discovering other galaxies beyond the milky way and supported the Big Bang Theory by discovering that our galaxy is expanding.Hubble changed Cosmology by discovering that the distant galaxies were, indeed, receding from the earth. The further away they were, the faster the galaxies were moving. Edwin left behind a very important law in science, which is the "Hubbles's Law". The "Hubbles"s Law" is that galaxies are receding from us (earth) at a velocity proportional to their distance. Greater the distance of a galaxy, the greater the redshift, and therefore the higherr the velocity. Hubbles's law implies that the universe is uniformingly expanding. Hubbles's Constant is the key to determining how long ago the Big Band Theory had to occur. By measuring how long it takes for the galaxies to recede, they can infere that if they rewinded the same speed of them receding that they can guess how long ago the Big Bang Theory happened. So as you can see Edwin Hubble contributed alot to science and scientist.
